Cuando primero escuche la noticia, parecía irreal. Fue una gran sorpresa y golpe. Algo así no podía pasarle a mi familia, no era posible. Seguí pensando en lo que su familia debería estar sintiendo ante esto. Seguí pensando, pero no sentía... por lo menos aun no. Por fin me pego después de un tiempo que era verdad, era real. Sentí un inmenso dolor y tristeza con una desesperación inquietante. Busque paz por medio de una bendición del sacerdocio de mis maestros orientadores. Antes de la bendición, ellos compartieron unas escrituras conmigo, una de las cuales fue
Alma 7:11-12:
11 Y él saldrá, sufriendo dolores, y tentaciones de todas clases; y esto para que se cumpla la palabra que dice: Tomará sobre sí los dolores y las enfermedades de su pueblo.
12 Y tomará sobre sí la , para soltar las ligaduras de la muerte que sujetan a su pueblo; y sus enfermedades tomará él sobre sí, para que sus entrañas sean llenas de misericordia, según la carne, a fin de que según la carne sepa cómo a los de su pueblo, de acuerdo con las enfermedades de ellos.
Me trajo esperanza, paz, y consuelo al ser recordada de esto.
Ahora pienso en los divertidos tiempos que comparti con el y siento gratitud de haberlo conocido y de haberlo tenido como mi primo. Ha pasado a la siguiente etapa de su vida inmortal. Acompaña a muchos otros que también han pasado como el Abuelo Carlos. Nos volveremos a ver. Hasta entonces, soy feliz de tener unas memorias de el:
1. Ir a su casa y quedarnos a dormir de vez en cuando.
2. Jugar y construir cosas con el y sus Legos.
3. Un dia de año nuevo cuando tronamos fuegos artificiales y cohetes, sentimos miedo y emoción cuando una botella de plástico que sostenía un cohete se callo al costado y el cohete salió rapidamente hacia el lado. Después el y yo nos quedamos jugando video juegos hasta las 6 de la mañana.
4. La primera vez que jugué dominos fue con el.
5. Me introdujo al juego de Pokemon en el Gameboy y me encanto.
6. Un verano jugamos a las escondidas en el jardin de mi abuelita Alicia hasta las 2 de la mañana cuando Ramnses accidentalmente rompió una botella de vidrio en mi cabeza.
7. Fuimos a nadar a una pila en Mexico y una vez en particular nos reímos tanto de Hector David mientras intentaba hacer del baño al otro lado de la calle. Había mucho viento y tierra por todas partes y un camión lleno de trabajadores paso y lo vio.
8. Una vez lo acompañe a el y su familia a un centro comercial de varios pisos y nos estacionamos en un nivel que estaba alto. Debido a mi fobia de las alturas, yo no quería salir del carro. El se quedo conmigo y espero.
9. El me enseño a tocar las primeras cuerdas que toque en una guitarra. Fueron las cuerdas para la canción Stand by Me.
10. Nos acompaño a mi a mi familia a Disney World y los Estudios Universales en Orlando, Florida. 72 horas en el carro de ida y de venida con varios dias de diversion entre los dos viajes.
11. El y Ramnses intentaron ver todos los episodios de Star Wars sin quedarse dormidos. Los dos se durmieron durante la tercera película.
12. Cuando no podía hacer algo, se burlaba diciendo, "Es contra idiotas." Y si aun no podía, me ayudaba.

When I first heard the news, it seemed unreal. I was shocked and surprised. Something like this couldn't happen to my family, it wasn't possible. I kept thinking of what his family must be feeling. I kept thinking, but I did not feel... at least not yet. It finally hit me some time later that it was true. I felt immense grief, sorrow, and an unsettling hopelessness. I sought peace through a priesthood blessing from my home teachers. Before doing so, they shared some scriptures one of which was the following i
n Alma 7: 11-12:
11 "And he shall go forth, suffering pains and and of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
12 And he will take upon him , that he may the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to his people according to their infirmities."
It brought hope, peace, and comfort to be reminded of this.
Now I think of the fun times I shared with him and I feel gratitude for knowing him and having him as a cousin. He has passed on to the next stage of his immortal life. He joins ranks with many others who have also passed such as Grandpa Carlos. We will meet again. Until then, I am happy to be left with memories of him:
1. Going to his home and sometimes sleeping over
2. Building and playing with him and his Legos.
3. For one New Year's Day lighting up fireworks and being scared and thrilled when the plastic bottle that was holding one fell over and the firework when shooting sideways. Then we both stayed up until 6am playing video games.
4. First time I played dominoes was with him.
5. He got me hooked on the Pokemon game on Gameboy.
6. One summer we played hide and seek in Grandma Alicia's garden until 2am when Ramnses accidentally broke a glass bottle on my head.
7. Going swimming at a watering trough in Mexico and one particular time laughing at Hector as he attempted to do his "business" on the other side of the road while there was a strong wind and dust storm and a truck filled with workers passed by and saw him.
8. One time I accompanied him and his family to a shopping center that was several stories high and they parked on a high level. Due to my phobia of heights, I did not want to leave the car. He stayed behind with me and waited.
9. He taught me the first chords I ever played on a guitar. They were chords to the song Stand by Me.
10. He joined me and my family to Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. 72 hours in a car roundtrip, several days of fun in between.
11. Him and Ramnses attempting to watch all six Star Wars episodes and not falling asleep. They fell asleep during the third movie.
12. Whenever I could not do something he'd tease me and say, "It's idiot-proof." When I still couldn't do it, he'd help me.
You will be missed cousin, but we will meet again.
